Action
South Africa
Instead of "Operation days work"
a project that the Norwegian national student organization organizes every year, the
students of Haugaland have decided to have their own project raising money
to help poor children in Cape Town, South Africa. We currently cooperate with
Wynberg Rotary Club, who assist in directing funds to schools and
institutions who need help. They also host the group of students and
teachers that visit Cape Town every year when money is handed over.
This has also led to a cooperation with
Cape Town college. Cape Town
College consists of 9 campuses under joint administration and leadership
og CEO Jannie Isaacs. The college has over 4000 students.
In May 2004 both schools signed a statement of intent that expresses the
developing of a common and mutually beneficial relationship where we agree
to:
'Participate in education, training and
cultural ventures that would benefit the mutual institutional and
professional development of both parties'.
English Exchange
Since
1996 Haugaland videregående skole (Upper
secondary school) has had an internationalization plan. During this period
our school established contact with Durham New College in England. Together we have had a
Leonado project with an exchange of tutors from our mechanical division 'Car
maintenance and repair'.
The project title was: 'Development and delivery of vocational training for N.G.V
(Natural gas driven vehicles)'.
In addition, the Art & Design
sections of both schools have recently finished a Leonardo project -
"Market and meeting places". This project was carried out
together with Liceo Artistico Statale "A Modigliani", in Padova
Italy (2001-2004)
It is also our aim to
include other countries in our international work.
